Colin was elected as the Chair of Governors at Waldringfield Primary School in 2018.

He is a director of an IT consultancy company providing services to FTSE100 companies.
He lives in Ipswich and has one son in the school.
Outside of work and school his interests include the Politics, Yoga, socialising and spending time with his family.  He is also currently building a raspberry pi system with his son.

Mr Stuart Currie-Cathey (Vice Chair)

Term started: 6th July 2017

Responsible for Humanities,  Modern Foreign Languages and Science

Personnel and Finance Committee

Stuart joined the Governing Body in February 2012 as a Parent Governor and was elected as the Chair later that year. He served as Chair for six years. He also chairs the Personnel and Finance Committee. In 2018 he successfully stewarded the Governing Body through a "Good" Ofsted inspection and his main priority now is to both challenge and support the school to go one better and achieve an "Outstanding" rating at the next inspection.
He works for the Home Office and manages staff based in the various major ports and airports across the South and East of England.
Stuart lives in Ipswich and had two sons who attended the school before moving up to secondary.
Outside of work and school his interests include the cinema, cooking, quizzes and card/board games.

Mrs Bryony Cooney

Responsible for Safeguarding and Creativity

Bryony joined the governing body as a Co-opted Governor in 2019. She lives in Waldringfield with her husband and two children. Her eldest is currently a Badger and the youngest, an excited Hedgehog.

Bryony left her native Suffolk to train at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland and worked for several years as a professional actor. In addition to performing she worked with companies providing management and communication skills training. Since having children she has swapped the stage for a career in Children and Young People’s Services, currently specialising in emotional wellbeing and mental health. 

Bryony has a creative, solution focused approach developed though both her career pathways. She is looking forward to taking an active role as a Governor, supporting the school to provide all children with the opportunity to meet their potential and thrive. 

Bryony is a keen, if not very speedy, runner. She enjoys gardening, splashing in puddles on country walks with her family and ‘messing about in boats’.

Mr Terry Shackle

Terry has worked for BT for the past 41 years, starting as an apprentice network installer and via many other roles, currently works as a software designer helping to keep internet traffic flowing. Since 2018 Terry has also helped run the Code Club at Waldringfield to help teach the basics of computer programming.

Terry has lived in Suffolk all his life and currently lives in Chelmondiston with his partner and has two grown up children, a cat and four chickens!

Interests outside of work include playing golf (badly), motor sport and enjoying the beautiful Suffolk countryside.

Mr Rob Ballard

Rob and his wife Clare and have two children, their son (James) is with Mrs Harrow in Owls, and their daughter also previously attended the school.

During their time associated with the school they have been overwhelmingly impressed with the ethos and set up. Rob wants to support the school to continue to ensure all children are given the best opportunities possible to fulfil their full potential.

His role at a large Defence engineering business involves leading a Business Transformation programme, running Continuous Improvement projects and focusses on problem solving. He has led numerous activities which have collectively engaged him in every aspect of the business. He believes the experience and knowledge gained from his employment can be carried across to support the governing body.

He also previously served as a parent governor for a period of just over a year at another school

Juliette Stock

Term Started: 5th December 2017

Term Ends: 4th December 2021

Responsible for Target Setting, Early Years and Literacy Communication

Juliette joined the Governing Body as a Parent Governor in November 2017.  

Juliette is from Suffolk originally, but spent 14 years living and working in various places such as Brighton, Australia and New Zealand. For the past 10 years Juliette has worked as an English teacher in secondary schools in London as well as locally and she now works part time teaching English A level in a local 6th Form centre.  Juliette currently lives in Waldringfield with her husband and two young daughters, both in Waldringfield.

Interests outside of work include reading, gardening, spending time on and around the river and being with her husband, children, friends and extended family.

Mrs Crissy Webber

Term Started: 5th December 2019

Term Ends: 4th December 2023

Crissy has worked within the NHS for nearly 20 years and works as the ICT Programme Manager for the Norfolk and Suffolk NHS Foundation Trust where she manages a team of project managers leading on technology and innovation projects.  

Crissy lives in Waldringfield with her husband and two children. Her eldest daughter is currently at the school in year 3 and her youngest is in Reception.

Crissy hopes to share the experience gained from working in the public sector and is keen to support the school however she can and ensure the children get the most out of their time there.

Interests outside of work include going to the gym, cooking, reading and spending time with her friends and family."

Nicola worked for Suffolk County Council’s Education Department for five years before getting married and moving to Germany.  On returning to the UK she worked as Finance & Admin Officer in a school in Wiltshire before moving back to Suffolk and joining Waldringfield School in 2003.

Nicola became an Associate Governor in 2008 and serves on the Personnel & Finance Committee and Premises Committee.

Nicola lives in Kesgrave with her husband and two children.  Her interests include keeping fit, baking and reading.

Sarah joined the governing body at her appointment as Headteacher in September 2008. Prior to her headship at Waldringfield Sarah was Deputy headteacher at Melton Primary school, an Advisory Teacher for SEN for the Local Authority and a SENCo and class teacher at St John’s Primary school in Ipswich. Sarah trained at Canterbury Christchurch University, graduating with a BAEd in June 1998, since then she has completed a Masters degree with Anglia Ruskin university and achieved her NPQH (Qualification in Headship) in  June 2008.

Sarah was born and brought up in Ipswich, attending Britannia Primary, Copleston High School and Northgate Sixth Form. She is a product of good Suffolk schools and enjoys working with some colleagues in the Local Authority and in other schools that taught her as a child!

Sarah lives in Ipswich with her husband, young son and two stepsons. She enjoys long coastal walks, enjoying the Suffolk countryside, travelling, quizzes and crosswords and socialising with family and friends.

Mrs Karen Harrow

Karen joined the governing body as a staff governor. 

Karen has taught for many years in both Essex and Suffolk. She has two boys, one in primary school and one in secondary school. They enjoy exploring the United Kingdom in their trusty VW, 'Long John Silver'.

Governors meetings take place each term. Minutes of these meetings are available in school.

Regulations also allow access to the following:

(i) The LA statement of Curriculum Policy and, where it exists, the Governing Body Statement of Curriculum Aims;

(ii) Any Statutory Statements (including Statutory Orders for the National Curriculum Subjects), circulars and administrative memoranda relating to powers and duties under Chapter 1 of the Education Reform Act (The Curriculum) sent to schools by the DfES.

(iii) Any published HMI reports which refer expressly to the School.

(iv) Any schemes of work currently used by Teachers in the School.

(v) The LA's agreed syllabus for RE.

(vi) A full copy of the arrangements for the consideration of complaints about the School Curriculum made by the LA and approved by the Secretary of State under Section 23 of the ERA.
